Welcome and thank you for your interest in joining our General Levin Winder Chapter NSDAR. We meet throughout the year on the third Wednesday of the month at noon time. We do not meet in December, June, July, and August. Most of the time, our meeting place is in Berlin, Maryland.
It is fun to trace our ancestors and we would be happy to help you along your way to discovering and proving your lineal, bloodline decent (no adoptions) to your ancestor. It must be a direct link starting with you as the first generation, continuing on to your parents, grandparents, etc.
For each individual in a generation you need documentation linking one generation to another. This might include a birth certificate, marriage certificate, divorce decree, death certificate, newspaper obituary or article, and federal or state census records.
EXAMPLE: The birth certificate documents the link of a child to the parents.
“Membership in the Daughters of the American Revolution honors and preserves the legacy of your patriot ancestor. Over two hundred years ago, American patriots fought and sacrificed for the freedoms we enjoy today. As a member of DAR, through participation in the National Society’s various programs and activities, you can continue this legacy by actively supporting historic preservation, promotion of education, and patriotic endeavors.”
I would be willing to meet you at a library nearby to get you started or I can email you with a little more detail as to what is needed. Please don’t be alarmed, it sounds like a lot but it quickly falls into place as you do some research.
In DAR Spirit,
Registrar, General Levin Winder Chapter NSDAR
